Fractions

Posted on: March 12, 2012

This is a fraction pie representing 1/4.

Using pictures to help solve a fraction makes the problem a whole lot simpler!

For example.

Solve the problem: 1/4+3/4=1

By turning the problem into a story/picture, makes the problem more enjoyable and easier to understand.

I found being able to use charts and pictures (such as the one above), allows for the students to understand what fractions are and how they can be easily demonstrated. I know personality if I couldn’t use things such as a pie chart to demonstrate a fraction I get easily confused on which ones are bigger than others.
